GRENO rises from the ashes

GRENO was originally launched in 2009 as a FREE sustainable publication for the Truckee Meadows.  Morgan Tiar developed the idea and turned it into a finished product that many around the area enjoyed reading. Unfortunately when Morgan and Marc’s shop ecoreno closed during the winter of 2011, GRENO became dormant.  After ecoreno closed, Morgan was hired by Keep Truckee Meadows Beautiful which seemed like a logical step.

One evening in May, during a gathering at Morgan’s house, she approached me with the idea of getting GRENO started again and she wanted ME to do the design and layout.  I was hesitant at first but Morgan has a way of being very persuasive.  I finally caved and agreed to take on the new project!  I’m very excited to be working with KTMB to bring you this revamped publication that started arriving in stores yesterday.  Please pick up a free copy, read through it and pass it along to a friend.

Relaunch of ActiveReno.com

by David on February 1, 2011

The revamped ActiveReno.com website launched last week, and judging by the feedback, everybody seems to like the clean look of the site.  I started from scratch and completely rebuilt the site from the ground up.  The project took around 60 hours to complete.  The biggest hurdle was finding an event calendar that was versatile yet easily customizable. We settled on Events Calendar Pro and it works great!

The main site was built using Thesis, which I like.  The major problem we ran into was Thesis didn’t seem to mesh well with the Event calendar.  Luckily Matt Hodder noticed the problem and designed a patch, which once added everything ran smooth.

Please take a look at the site and let me know what you think: ActiveReno
